Cumann na mBunscol Victory
On Friday the 22nd November our school football team went to the Cumann na mBunscol 5-a-side Gaelic tournament in the Antrim Forum . There were 14 teams including St. Mary’s PS Portglenone (us). We were split into two groups of seven teams including: St. Joseph’s Crumlin, Mary Queen of Peace, St. Oliver Plunkett’s Toome, Moneynick, St Pauls Ahoghill. In the group stage we went undefeated so that meant we were automatically into the semi-final. We won that semi-final against Ballymacrickett . That was a close match with a score of 3-2 to us, one goal between us! The we went into the final against Millquarter who didn't lose a game all day except for when they played us in the group stage. We went on to win that final 8-6 with a margin of 2 goals and there were no points allowed in this tournament. Frank McAleese was our captain, with a stunning performance in midfield. After the final match, all the semi-finalists were brought into hall 1 for the presentation and there we were presented with our trophy and our medals and Frank lifted the trophy for us. We are now County Champions! P.S. Onto Ulster's we go!
