ECO SCHOOLS GREEN FLAG AWARD
NUMBER 8!
πΏπ A Proud Day for St Maryβs! ππΏ
We are absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news β yesterday we were notified that our Green Flag application has been successful once again! This marks an incredible milestone as St Maryβs has now been awarded its 8th Green Flag ππ
This achievement reflects the tremendous dedication and commitment of our whole school community to environmental awareness and sustainability. We are especially fortunate to have such an active and enthusiastic ECO Committee, brilliantly led by our ECO Schools Coordinator, Mrs McGurk.
The journey to maintaining our ECO status is a sustained and significant effort. From poster competitions and our Waste Free Wednesday initiative, to our recently launched sunflower competition, our pupils continuously demonstrate their commitment to protecting the environment. Their work extends to keeping our grounds litter-free, planting flowers and vegetables to encourage pollination, organising Cash for Clobber recycling initiatives, and delivering informative assemblies to raise awareness across the school. π±π
We are immensely proud to be recognised as an ECO School for the 8th time β a testament to the ongoing hard work, enthusiasm and passion shown by everyone involved.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs McGurk, all our ECO Committees past and present, and every member of our school community who helps us live out the important value of Environmental Awareness each and every day.
Just today our ECO Committee following a suggestion by Cara in P7 were planting some flowers next to our tree and bench in memory of Connor Marron. What a beautiful and thoughtful idea.
πβ¨ Together, we are making a difference! β¨πKeep Northern Ireland Beautiful
