Maths Week Ireland

23 Oct 2016

Maths Week Ireland took place this year from the 11th to the 23rd October. This year the

focus was on practical maths and problem   solving with every class participating in a     different activity.

In Foundation Stage the Primary 1s went on a Number Trail.  They counted lots of different objects around the school; whilst the Primary 2 children had to organise a Halloween Party. They had to share out lots of treats fairly and continue the pattern the teacher had started.

In Key Stage One, the P3’s enjoyed a Maths Week Ireland game called ‘Three in a row” and the P4’s completed a Shape Hunt through the school and solved some of the Maths Week  Ireland Online problems.

Some of the older boys and girls in Key Stage Two used our new numeracy resource ‘Izak 9’.  They had great fun working in groups to solve problems and spot patterns.

Maths Week Ireland was a great opportunity for the whole school to further develop our problem solving skills in a fun and interactive way!
