Rio Olympics Sports Day
Sports day this year was on Wednesday the 25th of May. Our whole school was organised into teams. Each team was made up of children from P1—P7, with the P7 children being the captains. We picked a country that was taking part in the Olympics this summer to be our team name. We then had to wear the colours of that country. We made flags to represent our country and had an opening ceremony before the events started! We had lots of cheers from our parents as we walked up!!! It was great.
The events we took part in were egg and spoon, sack race and then the 80m sprint. Teams won points for competing in the races and for supporting each other. We needed a little break during the day to re fuel our bodies before the obstacle relay in the afternoon.
It took all day, but it was great, a whole day of sports! We’ll maybe get the parents involved even more next year and have a little parents race!!!
The overall winning team, which was announced at assembly the next week, was Japan. Congratulations Japan. Although Mrs Milner said it was very close between all teams!
