On Thursday 30th November we welcomed the two-time world champion boxer, Ryan Burnett, to our school for a Chat Show and he answered some of our questions. Ryan Burnett was born in Belfast. When he was a boy (about 12) he took up boxing because his friends did it. Then when he thought he was good enough he kept at it. Now he is working as hard as he ever has before and that has brought him where he is today. In preparation for this visit we asked all the children to come up with questions we would like to ask him. Conor McCann and myself, with the help of Mrs Maginess, selected the best questions, which we put to Ryan during our show. We also asked the Irish news if they would like to come and they sent one of their sports reporters who took photos of Ryan with some of our pupils. My favourite one is the one is the one in the news paper with Conor and I interviewing him. After the chat show we all got a photograph taken with Ryan and he signed autographs for anyone who wanted one, which was pretty much everyone! My favourite part of the day was being the compere & I got to hold the belt! We would like to say a big thank-you to Ryan for taking the time out of his very busy schedule to visit us here in St. Mary’s P.S. Portglenone. We will remember this visit for many years to come.
